How it works

Sports4Causes is a new pilot ownership scheme which will be embedded into the sport, to support future growth, impact, and sustainability. We will be opening up the owners race day experience to racing fans nationwide to purchase on a one off basis at affordable rates.

The initiative is set to complement existing industry schemes, including the ongoing ownership initiatives and will be positioned to provide a clear pathway to convert racing fans to ownership. Current racecourses affiliated with Sports4Causes include, Ascot, Doncaster, Lingfield, Newbury, Wolverhampton, Newcastle, Hexham, Goodwood, Plumpton and Southwell.

All provisions will be put in place to ensure no negative impact will be caused to existing owners experience on racedays.

Our mission

The aim of this initiative is to help attract new owners by offering them access to the ownership experience for a day, with the aim of converting them to the various forms of ownership that exist. The scheme will work closely with the key stakeholders to ensure it endorses all the great work that is being done by the industry and in particular racecourses to retain the current owners. The proceeds will go to Racing Welfare to ensure the money is being reinvested back into the sport.

The objectives are to engage with a broader public and to offer a “once in a lifetime” experience of being an owner for a day. The aim is for people to gain a unique, first-hand experience of racehorse ownership with “behind the scenes” access to the professionals and to convert that dream into the reality of being an owner for a day at a very affordable price. The racing industry will benefit from the attraction and recruitment of new owners with proceeds going to racing charities, which would support the industry as a whole.

Our vision

The aim of this initiative is to help attract new owners by offering them access to the ownership experience for a day. We hope the postive experience provided by S4C will assist in converting them to the various forms of ownership that exist. The scheme would work closely with the key stakeholders to ensure it endorses all the great work that is being done by the industry and in particular racecourses to retain the current owners. 75% of revenue will go straight to Racing Welfare and racecourses.

Racegoers or members of the general public will purchase the “ownership experience” for a day. The tickets and owner access will be offered up by the racecourses and these costs would be covered by the scheme. The racecourse will provide a host for those VIP owners to experience racehorse ownership. There will be a bespoke approach to the level of access to the “behind the scenes” experience the ownership package would allow depending on the type of meeting, the availability of professionals, the racecourse and their respective facilities. It will be in the interest of racecourses, trainers and industry professionals to engage with prospective new owners and significant donations would be made to racing charities.
